Burgundy Lace Japanese Painted Fern

Athyrium nipponicum 'Burgundy Lace' is a dramatic deciduous fern known for its lacy rosettes of arching, lance-shaped fronds. In spring, the foliage emerges with a rich burgundy-purple hue and silver streaking, eventually maturing to a silvery-green while retaining its dark purple midribs. This clump-forming perennial thrives in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soils in partial to full shade. It is an excellent choice for woodland gardens, shaded borders, or near water features, offering deer and rabbit resistance.
