Cohune palm

Attalea cohune is a massive, slow-growing palm native to Mexico and Central America, renowned for its majestic appearance and utility. It features enormous, nearly upright pinnate leaves that can reach thirty feet in length, with dark green leaflets that hang gracefully. The trunk often remains subterranean for many years before emerging. Culturally significant, it provides cohune oil, thatch, and edible hearts. It thrives in full sun and moist, well-drained soils within tropical climates.
