Create design onlineAbout Glacier™ Red Aubrieta
Glacier™ Red is a compact, mounding Aubrieta with purple-red flowers that extend the spring color season beyond earlier-flowering selections. Its low, spreading foliage suits rock gardens, stone walls, path edges, containers, and the front of a sunny border.
## Identification and season
[Syngenta’s exact Glacier Red profile](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70069266) identifies product 70069266 as Aubrieta hybrida and lists a 4–6 inch height, 10–12 inch width, full sun, and mid-spring flowering. The breeder says Glacier blooms on average two to three weeks later than Axcent. [Monrovia’s cultivar profile](https://www.monrovia.com/glacier-red-rock-cress.html) describes purple-red flowers and a compact mat suited to rock gardens, borders, and stepping stones.
## Siting
Use free-draining soil and full sun; in hot summer regions, some afternoon protection can reduce stress. Water regularly while establishing and during prolonged dry spells. Aubrieta tolerates some drought once established, but the [RHS trial](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/trials-awards/ongoing-plant-trials/aubrieta-arabis-aurinia) reports stress during prolonged heat and drought.
## Maintenance
Shear lightly after flowering to keep the mat tidy. Avoid a persistently wet crown, particularly over winter, and allow enough room for the plant to spread.
