Create design onlineAbout Summit™ Golden Yellow Aurinia
Summit™ Golden Yellow is a compact selection of basket-of-gold, forming a low, spreading mound of gray-green foliage beneath dense heads of golden-yellow flowers. Its early spring bloom and modest stature suit sunny border edges, rock gardens, gravel plantings, and walls where the foliage can spill over the edge.
## Cultivar and placement
The [Bluestone Perennials cultivar listing](https://www.bluestoneperennials.com/AUSG.html) gives the botanical name Aurinia saxatilis ‘Summit™ Golden Yellow’ and describes golden-yellow flowers over gray-green foliage with a compact spreading habit. It lists early-to-mid-spring bloom, full sun, ordinary or sandy soil, and low water needs; its mature height is about 8 inches, with 12–18 inches of spacing. Existing catalog dimensions are retained because their approximate height and spread fit a compact cultivar and the available sources differ in spread conventions.
## Siting and care
Use sharply drained soil and an open sunny position. Bluestone recommends low water needs and records pollinator benefit. After flowering, cut the plant back by about one third to tidy the mound; the nursery describes foliage as semi-evergreen, which may persist through mild winters.
## Maintenance
Trim spent stems after flowering and remove winter-damaged foliage in spring. Water during establishment, then reduce irrigation once the plant is rooted in well-drained soil.
