Golden Goddess is a compact evergreen selection of Bambusa multiplex, valued for its fine green foliage and yellowish to golden canes. It grows as a dense clump and is commonly planted as a modest-height screen, hedge or container specimen; the ultimate size varies with climate and growing conditions.
## Form and size
The [Monrovia profile](https://www.monrovia.com/golden-goddess-bamboo.html) lists zones 8–10 and a mature clump 6–10 feet tall and wide, while describing the cultivar as evergreen and clumping. [Palmco’s exact cultivar profile](https://www.palmco.com/golden-goddess-bamboo.html) gives a typical height near 10 feet and recommends 4–8 feet between plants for a screen. The [Ocean View Bamboo profile](https://oceanviewbamboo.com/product/bambusa-multiplex-golden-goddess/) calls it a dwarf form similar to ‘Fernleaf’ with larger leaves and yellowish culms, and gives an average height of eight feet. The live row’s former 30-foot height label and 20-plus-foot width label exceed these sources; its height measurement is therefore cleared, and the displayed labels now reflect reported variation.
## Siting
Grow in full sun or partial shade in moist, well-drained soil. Monrovia recommends keeping soil consistently moist after establishment; Palmco reports greater tolerance of dry spells once established. These differences suggest watering needs vary with heat, soil and local rainfall. The clumping habit expands gradually outward, so leave room around the plant even though it does not spread by long-running rhizomes.
## Maintenance
Water regularly through the first growing season and during extended heat. Thin aging or damaged canes at ground level; light selective pruning can maintain a screen or container shape. Protect from prolonged cold beyond the listed growing range.
