Graceful bamboo, also called graceful weaver’s bamboo, is an upright clumping bamboo with slender green culms and arching leafy tips. Its narrow profile and substantial height make it useful for privacy screens, hedges and specimen planting where a tall evergreen backdrop is wanted.
## Form and size
The [Chicago Botanic Garden plant finder](https://www.chicagobotanic.org/plant-information/plant-finder/bambusa-textilis-var-gracilis-graceful-weavers-bamboo) uses the name Bambusa textilis var. gracilis and lists upright form, full sun to partial shade, and zones 8–11. The [Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens profile](https://www.pslbg.org/graceful-bamboo/) calls it Bambusa textilis ‘Gracilis’ and reports 25–30 feet tall and 4–8 feet wide in clumps. The [University of Florida IFAS Extension](https://blogs.ifas.ufl.edu/hillsboroughco/2024/08/24/growing-bamboo-in-florida/) describes the popular ‘Graceful’ as upright and reaching about 25 feet; the [Bamboo Society of Australia species reference](https://bamboo.org.au/bamboo/bambusa-textilis/) confirms its dense evergreen foliage and clumping form. These sources support the catalog’s existing height measurement as plausible, while the range label has been adjusted to reflect reported mature size.
## Siting
Give the clump room to develop, with full sun to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens notes that more sun and consistently moist soil can accelerate growth. The clumping habit does not mean the plant stays narrow indefinitely; allow space for gradual outward expansion and avoid planting directly against utilities or hardscape. The recommended hardiness range is approximate and local cold exposure may affect foliage or canes.
## Maintenance
Water during establishment and extended dry periods. Remove dead or damaged canes at the base and thin older stems as needed to maintain an airy screen. New shoots are vulnerable while emerging, so avoid trampling or mowing where the clump is intended to expand.
