Bangle® Dyers Greenwood

Bangle® dyers greenwood (Genista lydia 'Select') is a compact, low-mounding shrub with fine green stems and a bright display of electric-yellow flowers in spring. Its modest size and spreading outline suit sunny borders, rock gardens, wall edges, mass plantings, and containers. ## Garden use Place Bangle where its flowering stems can drape slightly over a border edge or the rim of a large container. Proven Winners identifies this selection as Genista lydia 'Select'. ## Growing conditions Grow in sun and well-drained soil. Proven Winners describes an approximate 2-foot garden height and a 12- to 24-inch spread; a nursery listing gives a height range of 18 to 24 inches. Its spreading outline remains within the selection’s published mature spread range. ## Maintenance Little care is needed. Lightly trim after flowering to shape the mound, and remove winter-damaged tips if needed; avoid cutting far back into old wood. Once established, the plant tolerates heat and drought.
