About Bewitched™ Lavender - Begonia

Bewitched™ Lavender is a Rex begonia selected for its sharply cut, richly patterned leaves in lavender-toned colors. This shade-loving foliage plant makes a compact accent for a sheltered patio container or a bright indoor position, where its sculptural leaves can be seen up close. [Green Fuse Botanicals](https://green-fuse.com/new/begonia-rex-bewitched/) includes Lavender in its Bewitched Rex series, and [Proven Winners](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/begonia/bewitched-lavender-rex-begonia-begonia-rex) identifies the selection as ‘BDIBL12-0’. ### Light and placement Grow in partial shade to shade, protected from direct midday sun. Outdoors, use a sheltered container or shaded bed during warm weather; bring the plant inside before frost. The product profile lists a mature size around 18–24 inches tall and 12–15 inches wide and recommends USDA Zones 9–11 where it is grown outdoors. ### Moisture and soil A loose, well-drained potting mix works well. Keep the mix evenly moist during active growth without leaving the rhizome or crown in standing water. Rex begonias appreciate humid air, but avoid wetting the foliage, which can encourage leaf problems. [RHS guidance](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/begonias/houseplants) recommends shade, good drainage, humidity, and careful winter watering for rhizomatous begonias. ## Maintenance Remove damaged leaves at their base and rotate the pot occasionally to keep growth balanced. Water less in winter as growth slows, while keeping the root ball from drying completely. Check leaf undersides for common indoor pests before moving an outdoor plant inside.
