Bewitched White is a Rex begonia whose pale, cut leaves are marked by green and purple veins, with small pale pink flowers as a secondary feature. It brings a luminous foliage contrast to sheltered containers, conservatories and bright indoor spaces.
## Foliage and flowers
The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/526233/begonia-bewitched-white-bewitched-series/details) identifies Bewitched White by the code BRXSI13-0 and describes white, sharply divided leaves with green and purple veining, plus pale pink flowers in summer and autumn. The [Proven Winners profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/begonia/bewitched-white-rex-begonia-begonia-rex) also identifies the exact code and lists it as a mounded, shade-tolerant Rex begonia grown for foliage.
## Placement and size
Give it bright indirect light or partial shade, sheltered from harsh midday sun. The RHS recommends moist but well-drained loam; [NCSU Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/begonia-rex-types/common-name/painted-leaf-begonia/) gives the broader rex-begonia guidance of high humidity and evenly moist, freely draining soil. This tender rhizomatous perennial suits a conservatory, houseplant collection or sheltered container. Mature-size reports differ: Proven Winners lists 18–24 inches tall and 12–15 inches wide, while RHS gives a much broader 0.5–1 m tall and 0.1–0.5 m spread. Treat the smaller trade range as a typical container size and expect conditions and maturity to affect dimensions. The Proven Winners profile lists USDA hardiness zones 9–11.
## Maintenance
Water when the surface begins to dry, then empty any saucer so the rhizome does not sit in water. Remove damaged leaves and faded flower stalks. Maintain humidity with gentle air circulation, avoid wetting foliage, and protect the plant from frost.
