About Bossa Nova™ Night Fever Papaya Begonia

Bossa Nova™ Night Fever Papaya is a Begonia boliviensis with orange flowers set against bronze to dark foliage. Its well-branched, mounding and trailing habit makes it useful in hanging baskets and patio containers, where the stems can spill over the rim. ## Flowers and placement Syngenta lists this cultivar as flowering from mid-spring into summer and gives garden dimensions of 12–16 inches tall by 16–20 inches wide. Norseco describes the Night Fever Papaya selection as bronze-leaved with orange flowers and recommends it for containers and hanging baskets. Syngenta lists the Bossa Nova series for sun and shade exposures; a bright position with some protection from the strongest afternoon heat is a practical choice in hot locations. ## Growing Choose a container with drainage holes and a loose, evenly moist potting mix. Check moisture more often during warm, windy weather, particularly in hanging baskets. Published size ranges differ among growers and production conditions: Syngenta lists 12–16 inches high and 16–20 inches wide, while Norseco gives a taller 41–51 cm range. Use the breeder’s garden dimensions as a guide rather than a guaranteed mature size. Syngenta lists hardiness zones 9a–11a and markets it as an annual. In cold-winter regions, grow it as a warm-season annual or protect the tuber from freezing.
