About Dragon Wing® Pink Bronze Leaf Begonia

Dragon Wing® Pink Bronze Leaf is a large-flowered interspecific hybrid grown as a warm-season bedding plant, container specimen, or hanging-basket plant. It has arching stems with pink flowers and dark bronze foliage, and PanAmerican Seed identifies the selection as PAS1484338. Its generous spread suits large baskets, patio containers, and summer beds. ## Growing conditions Plants typically reach 12–15 inches tall and 15–18 inches wide. Plant outdoors after frost danger has passed. Dragon Wing adapts to sun or shade, but partial shade helps protect foliage in hot afternoon conditions. Use fertile, humus-rich soil that stays evenly moist while draining well; do not let containers stand in water or dry completely. Allow room for the mature plant, and use a roomy container or hanging basket for its arching stems. ## Season and care The breeder lists flowering from spring through autumn and describes vigorous, easy-care performance in warm southern conditions as well as cooler regions. Remove damaged stems as needed and keep fallen flowers swept from hard surfaces. The University of Arkansas extension also notes heat and humidity tolerance and recommends fertile, well-drained organic soil. ## Foliage and flowering The bronze leaf color distinguishes this form from green-leaf Dragon Wing Pink. The plant produces its flower display across the warm growing season; pink flowers appear above the dark foliage and can be especially effective against pale walls or in a mixed container. Remove damaged stems and give the plant adequate room for its mature width.
