Create design onlineAbout Dragon Wing® Red Begonia
Dragon Wing® Red is a large-flowered interspecific hybrid grown as a warm-season bedding plant, container specimen, or hanging-basket plant. Its arching stems carry red flowers from spring into autumn; PanAmerican Seed identifies this selection as Bepared. The breeder describes a long seasonal display suited to containers and landscape plantings.
## Growing conditions
Plants typically reach 12–15 inches tall and 15–18 inches wide. Plant outdoors after frost danger has passed. Dragon Wing adapts to sun or shade, but partial shade helps protect foliage in hot afternoon conditions. Use fertile, humus-rich soil that stays evenly moist while draining well; do not let containers stand in water or dry completely. Allow room for the mature plant, and use a roomy container or hanging basket for its arching stems.
## Season and care
The breeder lists flowering from spring through autumn and describes vigorous, easy-care performance in warm southern conditions as well as cooler regions. Remove damaged stems as needed and keep fallen flowers swept from hard surfaces. The University of Arkansas extension also notes heat and humidity tolerance and recommends fertile, well-drained organic soil.
## Red flowering form
The red selection gives a strong color accent against green leaves and pairs well with pale foliage or white-flowering plants. The [Royal Horticultural Society profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/172907/begonia-dragon-wing/details) lists Bepared and Dragon Wing Red as synonyms, and recommends a sheltered partial-shade position for garden use.

## Maintenance
Maintain even moisture and protect the plant from frost. Remove spent or damaged stems only when needed; RHS notes that routine pruning is not required.
