Yin Mix Dwarf Begonia

Yin Mix is a compact, mounded wax begonia with bronze foliage and a mix of pink, scarlet and white flowers. The contrast between warm-toned leaves and mixed blooms works well in annual borders, shaded beds and containers. ## Size and placement The [Ball Seed Yin and Yang series brochure](https://info.ballseed.com/MarketingPDF.aspx?blobid=286) identifies Yin Mix as an available color form, describes Yin as bronze-leaved and mounded, and lists series dimensions of 6–8 inches tall by 10–12 inches wide. Treat these as approximate mature dimensions and leave room for the plant to fill out. Wax begonias tolerate a range of light once established; the [North Carolina Extension profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/begonia-wax-types/) recommends moist, well-drained organic soil. ## Seasonal growing The [University of Illinois Extension profile](https://web.extension.illinois.edu/hortanswers/plantdetail.cfm?PlantID=5&PlantTypeID=1) describes wax begonias as tender annuals for gardens and containers, with bloom from spring until frost. Use Yin Mix as seasonal color in frost-prone climates. ## Maintenance Keep the root zone evenly moist without leaving it waterlogged. Check containers during warm weather, remove damaged foliage, and protect plants from frost. Give the foliage room to show against neighboring plants.
