Shadow King® Burgundy Love - Begonia

Shadow King® Burgundy Love is a compact foliage begonia in the newer Love subseries. It is grown for its burgundy color and small leaves, and fits a shaded container, mixed planter or protected garden bed. ## Series and placement The [Green Fuse catalog](https://green-fuse.com/new/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/GreenFuse-Catalog-2024-25-lr.pdf) lists Burgundy Love among the Shadow King selections and describes the series as small-leaved, heavily branched and suited to smaller containers and combinations. It gives a garden height of 8–12 inches. A [GrowerTalks report from Green Fuse's 2023 trial visit](https://www.growertalks.com/Newsletters/View/Newsletter/?article=4142) describes the Love subseries as crosses between rex begonias and Begonia bowerae and names Burgundy Love as one of its colors. The available text does not give a separate mature width or a detailed leaf pattern for this selection. ## Growing conditions Rex begonias are valued for colorful foliage. The [North Carolina Extension guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/begonia-rex-types/) recommends bright indirect light, humidity and moist, well-drained soil. Shadow King selections are also used in shade containers and sheltered beds. ## Maintenance Keep the potting mix evenly moist without leaving the roots in standing water. Remove damaged leaves and protect the plant from frost, direct hot sun and dry indoor air.
