Shadow King® Rose Frost is a compact rex begonia grown for its green and silver foliage. It suits shaded containers and sheltered indoor displays, where its mounded habit can be seen up close.
## Foliage and size
The [Proven Winners cultivar profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/begonia/shadow-king-rose-frost-rex-begonia-begonia-rex-cultorum) identifies Rose Frost as Begonia rex-cultorum, with green and silver leaves and a mature height and spread of 10–12 inches. It recommends part shade to shade and lists USDA zones 10–12. DGI’s [Shadow King series review](https://www.dgiplants.com/2015-reviews/spring-2015/951-shadow-king-begonias) also describes the series for shady beds and containers.
## Growing conditions
North Carolina State Extension describes rex begonias as foliage plants that prefer bright indirect light, moist well-drained soil and high humidity. Use a light potting mix, let excess water drain and avoid overwatering.
## Maintenance
Keep the plant warm and sheltered, indoors in bright indirect light or outside in shade. Remove damaged leaves and provide airflow. Protect it from frost and reduce watering if growth slows in winter.
