AmeriHybrid® Ruffled Yellow Tuberous Begonia is an upright, tuberous begonia grown for large, fully double flowers with deeply ruffled petals in yellow tones. PanAmerican Seed lists the Ruffled F1 selection at 14–20 inches high and 10–12 inches wide, and its flowering season spans spring through autumn.
## Flowers and form
The exact selection is identified in the [PanAmerican Seed product information](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/009410551006060/tuberous-begonia-marquee-ruffled-yellow/). The Ruffled series is bred for exceptionally large blooms, with a consistent double shape and strongly waved petal margins. Plant it where the flowers can be seen at close range, such as a shaded patio container or protected border.
## Siting
Tuberous begonias prefer partial or dappled shade, shelter from strong wind, and organically rich soil that stays evenly moist while draining freely. They do not tolerate drought, and waterlogged soil can rot the tuber. Containers need open drainage; in beds, avoid crowding so foliage dries and circulates well. The [NC State Extension Plant Toolbox](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/begonia-tuberous-types/) describes these shade and moisture requirements and notes that tuberous begonias suit containers, window boxes and border fronts.
## Seasonal care
In cold-winter regions, grow this frost-sensitive selection as a warm-season bedding plant or container accent. Before the first frost, move the pot to a frost-free location or lift the tuber, let it dry, and store it cool and dry for restarting in late winter. The plant may be carried from year to year where tubers can be protected.
## Maintenance
Water when rainfall is insufficient, checking containers more often than beds. Remove spent flowers and damaged leaves, and keep the plant out of persistently wet soil. As foliage yellows in fall, taper watering and protect the dormant tuber from freezing and excess moisture.
