About BIG™ Rose Green Leaf Begonia

BIG® Rose Green Leaf is a vigorous, uniform begonia grown for pink flowers above green foliage. Benary identifies it as Begonia x benariensis and gives a height of about 28 inches and width of about 23 inches; garden performance varies with conditions. ## Flowering and use The cultivar suits beds and containers, including hanging baskets and mixed planters. Penn State’s 2018 sun-container trial recorded pink flowers and continued flowering observations from July into September. Those trial observations describe the tested planting and climate rather than a guaranteed local schedule. ## Growing conditions Benary lists sun to partial shade and describes the plants as vigorous and well-branched. It also reports heat and rain tolerance. Provide room for the broad plant and adjust watering to soil drainage and current weather. The [Benary cultivar profile](https://www.benary.com/products/begonia-x-benariensis-f1-big/big-rose-green-leaf-bb0107p) gives the cultivar’s identity and growing dimensions; [Penn State’s flower-trial record](https://agsci.psu.edu/flower-trials/Plant-Name/Begonia-BIG-Rose-Green-Leaf-seed) documents flowering in its trial setting. ## Maintenance Remove damaged foliage as needed and keep containers evenly watered without leaving them saturated. In exposed sites, check moisture more often during hot or windy weather. Allow enough spacing for the plant’s mature breadth.
