About Creeping Barberry

Berberis repens is a low-growing evergreen subshrub that serves as an exceptional groundcover, typically reaching heights of one to two feet. It spreads via underground rhizomes, making it ideal for erosion control. The leathery, holly-like foliage is bluish-green in summer and transforms into striking shades of purple or red during winter. In spring, it produces fragrant yellow flower clusters followed by edible blue-black berries. It thrives in full sun to full shade and acidic soils.
