About First Editions® Moscato™ Barberry

First Editions® Moscato™ is the trade name for Berberis thunbergii ‘BailAnna’, a compact barberry with a densely branched, spreading mound. New leaves are lime green with orange-peach margins that soften toward green in summer, bringing a changing color pattern to a low border or foundation planting. ## Form and Foliage Cultivar profiles describe a mature size of about 2–3 feet tall and 3–5 feet wide. The foliage is deciduous, and the spreading form can serve as a low hedge or a broad accent where it has room to develop. See the [First Editions® cultivar profile](https://naturehills.com/products/first-editions-moscato-barberry) and [The Tree Farm’s Moscato profile](https://www.thetreefarm.com/barberry-moscato). ## Placement Provide full sun and a well-drained site. The Tree Farm lists USDA zones 4–7. Allow space for the branches to spread, especially beside paths and smaller neighboring plants. ## Seasonal Interest Spring growth carries the warm orange-peach margin. The margin fades toward green in summer; the First Editions® listing also notes fall color without specifying its exact hues. ## Maintenance Water while the shrub establishes and during prolonged dry spells. Its naturally spreading shape needs only occasional selective pruning to remove damaged branches or keep it within its allotted space.
