Doubloon Red Bicolor - Bidens

Doubloon Red Bicolor is listed in commercial grower catalogs as a Bidens selection, but the sources available here do not establish an exact cultivar description, mature dimensions, or hardiness range. Its trade name signals a red bicolor selection, while the second color, precise pattern, and cultivation limits remain to be confirmed from the breeder or a detailed production guide. The coded identity is preserved exactly as BDOUBR02-0. ## Growth and placement The [BFG Supply program](https://www.bfgsupply.com/media/6204/2022-2023-pell-product-program.pdf) lists Doubloon Red Bicolor among commercial Bidens plugs. A [Germania Seed catalog](https://www.germaniaseed.com/pdf/2022/2022_plant_EB.pdf) separately lists Doubloon Red Bicolor and describes the line as patented, but does not identify a patent number or give cultivar dimensions. The [Royal Horticultural Society’s Bidens ferulifolia profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/27935/bidens-ferulifolia/details) provides general species context—full sun and moist but well-drained soil—while noting broad size variation. Species guidance cannot resolve whether this coded trade selection has a more compact or spreading habit, so no numerical size or USDA zone is proposed. ## Maintenance Choose a bright position with well-drained soil and provide regular moisture while plants establish. Avoid standing water, especially in cool conditions. For containers, check moisture frequently and adjust watering to weather and pot size. Verify current supplier directions before deciding spacing, pinching, or pruning for production; in a mixed planting, trim only when stems begin to crowd neighboring plants.
