Bloomerang® Purple Reblooming Lilac

Bloomerang® Purple is the lilac cultivar ‘Penda’, a fragrant, purple-flowering shrub with green foliage. Monrovia lists it for USDA Zones 3–7 and describes a spring bloom followed by late-summer rebloom that can continue until frost. ## Growing conditions Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. Monrovia describes a mature size of 4–5 feet tall and wide. Water when the top two inches of soil become dry, especially while the shrub establishes. ## Seasonal interest The fragrant purple flowers open in spring and return later in the season. Use the shrub in a border, hedge, screen, or as a specimen where its repeated flowering can be enjoyed. Monrovia notes that butterflies and other pollinators visit the flowers and describes the plant as deer resistant. ## Maintenance Allow room for mature growth and provide good air circulation. Prune after flowering if shaping is needed, so the next season’s flower buds are not removed.
