About Bobo® Hydrangea Shrub

Bobo® is a dwarf panicle hydrangea whose large conical flowers open creamy green and white, then mature pink through summer and fall. At about 2½–3 feet tall and 3–4 feet wide, it fits borders, edging, low hedges, mass plantings, and large containers ([Proven Winners ColorChoice profile](https://www.provenwinnerscolorchoice.com/plant/bobo-hardy-hydrangea/)). ## Flowers and placement The selection blooms on new wood, and flower color does not depend on soil pH. Its USDA range is zones 3–8; full sun to part shade is suitable, with afternoon shade helpful in warmer sites. The breeder lists Bobo® as salt tolerant, which is distinct from salt-spray tolerance. ## Maintenance Use moist, well-drained soil and average water, avoiding prolonged sogginess. Prune in late winter to shape the plant and remove weak growth; the remaining sturdy stems carry the next season’s panicles. U.S. plant patent USPP 22,782, for ‘Ilvobo’, issued June 12, 2012 ([patent record](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP22782P2/en)). [North Carolina State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/hydrangea-paniculata/) describes general panicle hydrangea care.
