Create design onlineAbout Bombshell Red Mandevilla
Bombshell® Red is a compact, upright mandevilla with deep red flowers and glossy green foliage. Proven Winners lists a garden height of 18–24 inches and a spread of 12–14 inches, with hardiness in USDA Zones 9a–11b and flowering from spring until frost.
## Form and flowering
The selection is Mandevilla sanderi ‘Fisrix Dered’ (PP20714). It branches well and is usually grown as a flowering annual in cooler regions, although it is perennial or subshrub-like in warm climates. The upright plant may be guided onto a trellis, but its growth is not strongly vining. Red flowers attract bees and hummingbirds and make a bright focal point in a container or sunny bed.
## Site
Provide part sun to full sun and soil that stays evenly moist without becoming waterlogged. Proven Winners recommends containers and landscape plantings; give plants support if you want stems to climb. ## Maintenance
Water during dry weather; prolonged drought can cause leaf drop. The developer recommends controlled-release fertilizer at planting and again midseason for best growth. Remove damaged stems and trim lightly to control shape; deadheading is not required for continued flowering.
