Create design onlineAbout BUZZ™ Violet Butterfly Bush
BUZZ™ Violet is a compact deciduous butterfly bush with fragrant violet-purple flowers and gray-green foliage. Its upright, bushy habit fits sunny mixed borders and smaller gardens. The RHS lists summer and autumn flowering and a mature height and spread of 1–1.5 metres.
## Flowers and placement
The [RHS cultivar profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/308611/buddleja-davidii-buzz-violet-tobudviole-buzz-series/details) identifies the BUZZ selection by the code ‘Tobudviole’ and also lists ‘Buzz Lavender’ as a synonym. It describes dense fragrant violet-purple flower clusters and narrow gray-green leaves. The [RHS genus guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/buddleja) notes that Buddleja flowers provide nectar for butterflies.
## Size and growing conditions
RHS gives a mature height and spread of 1–1.5 m, or about 3.3–4.9 feet. The plant prefers a sunny position, though the cultivar profile also lists partial shade. Well-drained sand, chalk, or loam suits its roots.
## Maintenance
The [RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/buddleja/growing-guide) recommends annual pruning for *B. davidii*. Prune in early spring to keep the shrub compact and encourage new flowering stems. Water during establishment, then adjust to rainfall and soil drainage.
