About Burretiokentia koghiensis

*Burretiokentia koghiensis* is a palm endemic to Mont Koghi on New Caledonia’s Grande Terre. The species is described as a tall, solitary palm of humid, rocky forest. ## Identity and habitat The [Endemia species account](https://endemia.nc/flore/fiche1111) gives a height of about 8–15 m and describes dense humid mid-elevation forest on shallow rocky ultramafic substrate around 500–600 m. It records 10–12 spreading leaves, each about 1.5–2.5 m long, and whitish woolly inflorescences that are initially upright and later horizontal. The account says the species is known from only a few individuals mixed with *B. vieillardii* and reports a critically endangered assessment dated 2016. ## Growing context These observations describe the wild palm, not its garden performance. The account does not establish USDA hardiness or cultivated spread, and it gives no care schedule. ## Maintenance Cold tolerance, irrigation, and pruning remain uncertain in the opened species account. Seek specialist palm guidance before cultivation and use local conditions to guide placement.
