About Gumbo Limbo

Bursera simaruba, known as the Gumbo Limbo, is a fast-growing, semi-evergreen tree reaching up to 60 feet. It is most famous for its lustrous, coppery-red bark that peels in papery flakes, earning it the nickname 'Tourist Tree.' This resilient species features a spreading, rounded crown with thick, crooked branches and glossy, pinnate foliage. Highly drought-tolerant and wind-resistant, it thrives in full sun to part shade and is widely used for shade, living fences, and coastal landscaping.
