Green Beauty is an evergreen Japanese boxwood with a rounded, mounded form and foliage that changes from dark green in summer to yellow-green in winter. Dawes Arboretum lists it at about 3 feet tall by 4 feet wide and places it in USDA zone 5; Saunders Brothers gives a similar rounded form and reports different size and hardiness ranges. ## Landscape Use
Its dense evergreen structure suits hedges, borders, grouped plantings, containers, and specimen use. Both reports put the mature height near 3 feet; their spreads range from 3 to 4 feet. Dawes lists USDA zone 5, while Saunders Brothers lists zones 6–8.
## Siting and Soil
Saunders lists sun, partial shade, or shade. Use well-drained soil and avoid waterlogged conditions. The plant is reported as deer resistant; Dawes also lists rabbit resistance.
## Maintenance
Lightly prune in late winter or early spring to maintain the outline, as Saunders recommends. Monitor for boxwood leafminer, which Saunders identifies as a susceptibility, and remove damaged or dead branches.
