Northern Charm™ is the trade name for Buxus ‘Wilson’, a slow-growing, rounded evergreen boxwood selected for cold-climate performance. Its compact form and green foliage suit low hedges, screens, and foundation plantings.
## Foliage and placement
The [Midwest Groundcovers cultivar profile](https://archive.midwestgroundcovers.com/plant/northern-charm-boxwood/) lists plants about 3–4 feet tall and wide, with moist, well-drained soil and sun to part shade. It reports white flowers in March and April. The [Chicago Botanic Garden profile](https://www.chicagobotanic.org/plant-information/plant-finder/buxus-wilson-boxwood) describes the same Buxus ‘Wilson’ selection and notes foliage that shifts from a bluish summer cast to black-green in winter. Sources differ on bloom timing and color, so the flowers remain a secondary seasonal feature.
## Maintenance
Plant in well-drained soil and protect from drying winter winds. Keep the root zone watered in late fall before the ground freezes, especially in exposed sites. Prune in spring after flowering if shaping is needed; its naturally rounded habit does not require constant clipping.
