Create design onlineAbout Colibri™ Plum Calibrachoa hybrida
Colibri™ Plum is a compact, early-flowering Calibrachoa selection in Danziger’s Colibri series. The [breeder’s product page](https://www.danzigeronline.com/catalog/annuals/colibri-plum/) lists plants about 10–12 inches tall and wide for pots, hanging baskets, and groundcover.
## Garden use
The [Colibri series profile](https://www.danzigeronline.com/series_annuals/colibri/) describes a compact, early-flowering habit, while the [2026 brochure](https://www.danzigeronline.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Calibrachoa-Colibri-2026.pdf) lists Plum among the selections and gives a spring-to-summer flowering window. Use the low, branching plants in sunny containers, baskets, or seasonal bed edges.
## Growing conditions
Grow in full sun in a moist, freely draining medium, following Danziger’s cultivar guidance. Calibrachoa is generally treated as a tender warm-season annual where frost occurs; [University of Illinois Extension](https://extension.illinois.edu/flowers/calibrachoa) describes the genus for containers, baskets, and groundcover in sunny sites. Local temperatures and frost determine the planting season.
## Maintenance
Water consistently, especially in hanging baskets and small pots that can dry quickly, and avoid leaving roots in standing water. Feed container plants during active growth according to the fertilizer label. Inspect stems during hot weather and remove damaged growth. Illinois Extension notes that pinching can help keep plants compact when they become leggy; Danziger describes Colibri as naturally compact.
