About LIA™ Glaze Calibrachoa hybrida

LIA™ Glaze is an early-flowering calibrachoa bred for a controlled, semi-trailing form and large flowers. Danziger describes the LIA series as medium vigor, with a controlled basket habit and tight internodes. ## Form and placement Danziger describes this cultivar as early flowering and semi-trailing, with extra-large blooms. Its controlled branching and tight internodes help create a full display in patio pots, hanging baskets, and mixed containers. The breeder also lists landscape and ground-cover use. The cultivar guide gives a mature production size of 12–14 inches tall and wide; individual plants can spread differently with container size, light, water, and growing season. ## Growing conditions Calibrachoa is a tender perennial usually grown as a warm-season annual. Choose sun and fertile, moist but freely draining soil. Partial shade can reduce flowering. Containers dry quickly, so check moisture during warm or windy weather and water before the root ball dries completely. Illinois Extension recommends regular feeding, especially in containers, and notes flowering can continue into fall. Avoid waterlogged potting mix, which raises root-rot risk. Danziger notes that LIA was selected for basket production, tight internodes, and flowering under a 10-hour day; these are cultivar and production traits, not a guarantee of winter hardiness. Pinch or trim only if a plant becomes untidy; routine deadheading is not needed to encourage continued bloom. Remove frost-damaged plants at season’s end in climates where calibrachoa cannot overwinter.
