About Scotch Heather

Calluna vulgaris is a low-growing evergreen shrub that forms dense, thick mats of foliage. Its tiny, scale-like leaves are arranged in overlapping pairs, typically appearing gray-green in summer before turning bronze or purple in winter. In mid to late summer, it produces beautiful spikes of rosy-pink to purple flowers. Ideal for rock gardens or as a ground cover, it thrives in acidic, well-drained soils and full sun. This hardy plant prefers cool, moist climates and attracts various pollinators.
