About Kramers Camellia Shrub

Kramer's Supreme is a vigorous, evergreen Japanese camellia with glossy foliage and large, fragrant, bright red peony-form flowers. Its upright, bushy shape makes it a strong flowering accent for a woodland border or sheltered foundation planting. ## Flowers and size The [International Camellia Register](https://camellia.iflora.cn/Cutivars/Detail?latin=Kramer%27s+Supreme) describes fragrant, bright red peony-form flowers and records January–February bloom in the United States. The [Royal Horticultural Society profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/97061/camellia-japonica-kramers-supreme/details) describes late-winter to early-spring flowering and mature dimensions of 2.5–4 m tall by 1.5–2.5 m wide, about 8–13 feet by 5–8 feet. ## Growing conditions Give Kramer's Supreme partial to full shade and protect it from cold, dry winds and early morning sun. General camellia guidance recommends acidic soil that stays moist but drains freely ([RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/camellia/growing-guide)). Use it as a specimen, in a flower border, or in a container while young. ## Maintenance Camellia shrubs need little routine pruning; the RHS recommends pruning after flowering only if needed ([RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/camellia/growing-guide)). If shaping is necessary, remove selected branches after flowering rather than shearing the shrub. Protect buds from late frost and drying winds, which can damage developing flowers.
