Pink-A-Boo® is an evergreen sasanqua camellia with fragrant pink flowers, yellow stamens, and glossy dark-green leaves. It grows into a substantial shrub, typically 8–10 feet tall and wide, and is suited to a hedge, espalier, or broad border where its winter flowers can be enjoyed.
## Flowers and identity
[Monrovia](https://www.monrovia.com/pink-a-boo-camellia.html) identifies the plant as Camellia sasanqua ‘Mondel’ (PP21687), a pink-flowering sport of ‘Yuletide’ discovered at Monrovia Nursery. The flowers are larger than those of the parent, with seven petals, yellow stamens, and a sweet fragrance. Monrovia lists winter bloom, evergreen foliage, and mature size of 8–10 feet tall and wide in 12 years; the American Camellia Society's [MonDel cultivar entry](https://americancamellias.com/education-and-camellia-care/acs-camellia-encyclopedia/camellias-beginning-with-m/mondel) also records the pink flower color and seven-petal form.
## Siting
Plant in filtered sun to partial shade in organically rich, acidic, well-drained soil. Protect roots with mulch and avoid sites that stay waterlogged. The established 8–10-foot dimensions and USDA zone range 7–10 agree with Monrovia's cultivar profile. Use as an evergreen screen or hedge, or train as an espalier where there is room for its mature spread.
## Maintenance
Water regularly during the first growing season; once established, water when the upper soil begins to dry rather than keeping the root zone saturated. Prune lightly to shape after flowering, and feed with an acid-forming fertilizer after bloom according to its label.
