About Blue Clips Bellflower

Blue Clips is a compact Carpathian bellflower with blue-purple, upward-facing cup-shaped flowers above a low mound of green foliage. It flowers in summer and suits the front of a perennial border, edging, a rock garden or a container. ## Size and siting Illinois Extension lists this selection at 6–8 inches tall; Wisconsin Extension describes the species mound as about 6–8 inches tall and roughly a foot wide. Grow it in full sun to partial shade and fertile, well-drained soil. Mulch to keep roots cool and provide adequate moisture in dry weather. [Illinois Extension](https://extension.illinois.edu/landscaping/carpathian-bellflower) and [Wisconsin Extension](https://hort.extension.wisc.edu/articles/campanula-carpatica-blue-clips-white-clips/) describe the cultivar and its garden use. ## Garden use The low, spreading habit works as a small groundcover, at the front of mixed perennial plantings, and in containers. Its summer flowers are attractive to pollinators. ## Maintenance Remove faded flowers to encourage additional bloom and keep the plant tidy. Watch for slugs on tender foliage; divide established clumps in spring or early summer if they become crowded.
