About Campana Lilac Campanula

[Campana Lilac](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/013006226002930/campanula-campana-lilac/) is a greenhouse cut-flower selection of Campanula medium, commonly known as bellflower or Canterbury bells. Its upright stems carry lilac, bell-shaped blooms. PanAmerican Seed lists it in the Campana F1 series, valued for strong stems and uniform flowering. ## Form and flowering The breeder lists a height of 30–34 inches and an upright habit. In the garden, Canterbury bells generally bloom in summer and behave as biennials. Greenhouse growers can schedule the crop for different production windows using day-length management, so flowering dates depend on how the crop is grown. ## Growing conditions Give the plant full sun or partial shade and moist, well-drained soil, following [NC State Extension guidance](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/campanula-medium/common-name/canterbury-bells/). NC State Extension notes that Canterbury bells perform best in cooler climates and may need afternoon shade in warmer regions. The specific Campana seed line is marketed for greenhouse cut-flower production, while the species can also be used in a cutting garden or cottage border. ## Maintenance Stake stems where wind could topple them. Remove spent spikes for tidiness, or leave some to mature seed if reseeding is desired. Monitor for slugs, snails, rust and powdery mildew.
