About Pink Octopus Bellflower

Pink Octopus is an unusual bellflower with lantern-shaped buds that open into slender, downward-facing pink petals. The upright flowering stems rise above deeply cut foliage, adding a distinctive form to perennial borders and containers. ## Flowers and garden use The breeder, [Terra Nova Nurseries](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/campanula-pink-octopus/), describes pink, octopus-like flowers on upright branches and lists flowering in June and July. The [RHS profile for Pink Octopus](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/272027/campanula-octopus/details) calls it a cultivar related to *C. punctata* and describes lantern-shaped buds opening to soft pink, narrow petals with red dots. The unusual flower form is the cultivar’s defining feature. ## Size and placement Terra Nova reports about 10 inches tall and 18 inches wide, with flowering stems reaching about 15 inches. Place it where the unusual flowers can be seen and where its spreading growth has room. It suits a mixed border or a container with adequate root space. ## Light, soil, and water Grow in full sun or part shade in average, well-drained soil. The breeder lists average garden water and a broad hardiness range; water new plantings through establishment and during prolonged dry weather. Avoid persistently wet soil. ## Maintenance Remove faded flower stems to keep the planting tidy and encourage fresh growth. Cut back declining foliage as it yellows. Divide established clumps if they become crowded or lose vigor.
