Red Shades' prefers an organically rich, moist, well-drained soil in the pH range of 6.0 to 6.5, but it will tolerate others that are slightly acid to neutral. It doesn't tolerate alkaline soils well. Moderate salt tolerance. Needs 4-6 hours of full sun daily. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage repeat blooming over seed production. Prune spent flower stem down to first node under terminal flower and second shoot will develop. Repeat pruning for that shoot when it is done blooming for a third shoot.
