Candy Cane Chocolate Cherry is a compact sweet pepper with striped foliage and colorful mini-bell fruit. Fruit starts green with cream stripes and ripens through yellow and red tones to chocolate and crimson, adding ornamental interest while remaining useful for fresh eating.
## Fruit and size
The [Botanical Interests profile](https://www.botanicalinterests.com/products/candy-cane-chocolate-cherry-sweet-pepper-seeds) identifies a Capsicum annuum hybrid and describes thin-walled fruit about 3½–3¾ inches long. It lists a 12–24 inch height category and container suitability. [Victory Seed Company](https://sage.victoryseeds.com/products/candy-cane-chocolate-cherry-sweet-pepper) gives a more specific mature size of 18–24 inches high by 12–18 inches wide and notes green fruit at about 55–60 days and fully ripe fruit at 70–75 days from transplant.
## Siting
Grow in full sun in a container or garden bed. Victory Seed reports that plants grow with or without support; use support if a fruiting branch needs it. Pick fruit at different stages for green-striped, intermediate, or fully ripe color.
For peppers generally, [Utah State University Extension](https://extension.usu.edu/yardandgarden/research/peppers-in-the-garden) recommends fertile, well-drained soil and deep, infrequent irrigation, and notes that peppers do poorly in heavy, wet soils.
## Maintenance
Plant after frost danger has passed and keep the root zone evenly watered during active growth. Harvest regularly as fruit reaches the desired stage.
