Create design onlineAbout Cosmo Edible Potted Pepper
Cosmo is a compact edible pepper for a sunny windowsill, counter, or patio pot. Its blunt, snack-sized peppers are purple before turning red at full maturity, with mild heat and a fresh or cooked use.
## Fruit and placement
[PanAmerican Seed](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/191109990038059/edible-potted-pepper-cosmo/) identifies Cosmo as a mildly hot Kitchen Minis pepper with blunt-conical fruit about 2 inches long. The peppers are brilliant purple before ripening red, and can be eaten fresh or cooked. The breeder lists a compact plant about 10–12 inches tall and 8–10 inches wide, with summer flowering. Its sunny windowsill, counter, or patio-table use suits a small edible container planting.
## Growing conditions
Give it a bright, sunny position and a container with drainage. PanAmerican Seed advises growing this selection on the dry side during production and supporting the central stem when flowering as fruit weight builds. For home containers, [University of Minnesota Extension](https://extension.umn.edu/garden-and-home/yard-and-garden/gardening-in-minnesota/growing-peppers) recommends full sun and warm conditions. The extension guide notes that consistent soil moisture supports good fruit quality, while dry soil can weaken flowers and young fruit; check container moisture often and water thoroughly when needed. Harvest the purple fruit for its immature color or wait for red maturity.
## Maintenance
Keep the plant in its warm, bright growing place and water thoroughly when the mix begins to dry, allowing excess water to drain. Add a small stake near the central stem if fruit weight bends it. Harvest regularly as fruits reach the preferred color and maturity.
