Hot Lemon Zest is a compact, edible potted pepper in PanAmerican Seed’s Kitchen Minis collection, bred for harvest from a sunny windowsill, counter, or patio table. Its small peppers mature from green to lemon yellow and bring substantial heat, so use them sparingly in salsa or hot sauce.
## Growing Conditions
Grow in full sun, with at least six hours of light. The breeder lists a mature height and spread of 12–14 inches and describes the plant as compact. Kitchen Minis plants are sold with ripe fruit and continue producing harvestable vegetables for several weeks. PanAmerican Seed advises growing this selection on the dry side and supporting fruit weight with a stake near the central stem when flowering begins.
## Fruit and Season
The habanero-type fruit is about 1 inch long, teardrop-shaped, and turns from green to yellow. The breeder reports approximately 40,000 Scoville heat units. Its listed bloom season is summer. Keep this warm-season pepper where its foliage and fruit can be enjoyed close to the kitchen.
## Maintenance
Provide a sunny, warm growing spot and harvest ripe peppers as needed. Follow the breeder’s guidance to avoid overly wet growing conditions and stake the central stem if fruit weight needs support.
