Create design onlineAbout Sangria Ornamental Pepper
Sangria is a compact ornamental pepper with a continuous display of purple and red fruit on a full, somewhat spreading plant. PanAmerican Seed lists it for sunny landscapes and containers, with an approximate mature height of 10–12 inches and spread of 16–18 inches.
## Fruit and placement
The fruit colors appear together on indeterminate plants, giving this selection a long display as new peppers form. Use Sangria in a warm-season border or as a focal plant in a patio container; its compact footprint suits the 6- and 8-inch pots recommended by the [breeder](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/045600001006968/ornamental-pepper-sangria/). The breeder describes the fruit as non-pungent.
## Growing conditions
Give the plant full sun and a long, warm growing season. Peppers generally perform best in fertile, well-drained soil; [Utah State University Extension](https://extension.usu.edu/yardandgarden/research/peppers-in-the-garden) recommends regular watering and advises against heavy, poorly drained soil.
## Maintenance
Water deeply when the root zone begins to dry, especially in a pot, and let excess water drain. Set transplants outside after frost danger has passed. Remove damaged foliage and spent stems to keep the display tidy; remove damaged or spent stems as needed to keep the display tidy.
