About Carex EverColor® Everest

EverColor® Everest is a compact Japanese sedge with arching, dark green leaves edged in silvery white. Its neat mound brightens borders, containers, and groundcover plantings through the year. ## Foliage and form The breeder describes Everest, sold as Carex oshimensis ‘Carfit01’, as a mound-forming selection with white variegation and mature dimensions near 0.50 m high and wide. Greenleaf Nursery describes dark green leaves with silvery-white margins, a fountain shape, and plants about 10 inches tall and up to 24 inches wide, so reported proportions vary by grower. ## Siting Use Everest along a path, in a container, or in groups as a low groundcover. The EverColor breeder recommends full sun to shade and moist, freely draining soil; in hot, arid climates, part shade and shelter from dry winds help protect the foliage. Avoid waterlogged sites. Remove old leaves as needed to keep the mound tidy, and divide crowded clumps in spring. Allow room for the foliage to arch outward.
