Pavilion™ Blue is an upright Caryopteris incana selection for compact perennial beds, mixed borders, and containers. It bears blue flowers in late summer and early fall, when many shrubs have finished flowering.
## Size and placement
The [Danziger cultivar profile](https://www.danzigeronline.com/catalog/perennials_catalog/pavilion-blue/) identifies the selection and reports a mature height of 35–40 cm and width of 45–50 cm, approximately 14–16 inches high and 18–20 inches wide, with hardiness in zones 5–9. A [nursery listing](https://romencegardens.com/collections/plant-type-shrubs/products/caryopteris-incana-pavilion-blue) also describes blue flowers and a compact habit.
## Siting
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. Caryopteris generally tolerates dry periods after it is established, while poor drainage can cause problems; see the [RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/caryopteris/growing-guide) for genus-level siting advice.
## Maintenance
Cut the stems back in spring to encourage new growth and keep the plant compact. Allow enough room for its wider-than-tall form.
