[Beekeeper™ bluebeard](https://springhillnursery.com/products/beekeeper-caryopteris) is the Minigold selection of Caryopteris × clandonensis, grown for bright chartreuse foliage and clusters of purple-blue flowers. It forms a rounded shrub about 2–3 feet tall and wide, with late-season blooms that draw bees and butterflies.
## Form and seasonal interest
Spring Hill Nursery lists this selection at 24–36 inches high and wide, with chartreuse to yellow foliage and purple-blue flowers from midsummer into fall. The compact size suits mixed borders, edging, and containers. The foliage color is strongest in sunny exposures, while light afternoon shade can be useful in hot sites.
## Growing conditions
Plant in full sun or partial shade in well-drained soil. Water regularly while the shrub establishes and during prolonged dry spells. It is rated for USDA zones 5–9. Leave enough space for the rounded mature spread and combine it with plants that enjoy similar sun and drainage.
## Maintenance
Bluebeard flowers on new growth, so prune in early spring to refresh the framework and encourage flowering stems. Remove winter-damaged growth after new shoots begin. Keep the root zone well-drained and avoid frequent watering once the plant is established.
