About Cora® Cascade XDR Apricot Catharanthus

Cora® Cascade XDR Apricot is a trailing Cora® Cascade XDR vinca with apricot flowers for hanging baskets, patio containers, and landscape beds. The breeder reports flowering from late spring through summer and lists both full sun and part shade. ## Identification and garden use The exact [Syngenta Flowers product profile](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70071702) identifies the cultivar and its Cora® Cascade XDR series. Its usual garden size is about 6–8 inches tall by 8–12 inches wide. For a finished hanging basket, the breeder separately lists a wider 32–36-inch spread while retaining a 6–8-inch height; the Apricot record's approximately 30-inch width is close to that basket range. Choose spacing according to whether the plant is used in a bed or allowed to cascade from a basket. The XDR designation reflects screening against aerial Phytophthora strains; resistance does not mean immunity. ## Growing conditions Use a sunny to partly shaded site with freely draining soil. General [UF/IFAS guidance](https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/fp112) for Catharanthus roseus notes heat tolerance and advises against excessive irrigation. [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/catharanthus-roseus/common-name/annual-vinca/) also recommends warm-season planting and well-drained conditions. In landscape beds, allow room for the plant's spreading habit; in containers, make sure drainage holes remain open. ## Maintenance Check containers more often during hot, dry weather, watering when the mix begins to dry. Avoid persistently wet roots, and trim damaged or overly long stems when needed. Protect the plant from frost; it is generally grown as a warm-season annual outside frost-free climates.
