About Tattoo™ Papaya Vinca

Tattoo™ Papaya is a compact, upright vinca with soft orange flowers marked by a dark eye. Its 10–14-inch height and 6–8-inch spread work well in sunny borders, container plantings, and summer masses. ## Flowers and form The [PanAmerican Seed profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/063707916003907/vinca-tattoo-papaya/) identifies Papaya as *Catharanthus roseus* product PAS1192834. It describes soft orangesicle-colored petals with an inky dark eye, abundant flowers, and a uniform, upright habit. Plants are listed at 10–14 inches high by 6–8 inches wide, with flowering from late spring through summer. The Tattoo series has stronger flower contrast in warm weather with moderate light; colors can become less distinct in hotter, brighter exposure. ## Siting Grow in full sun or light shade in well-drained soil. [North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/catharanthus-roseus/common-name/annual-vinca/) notes that annual vinca flowers through heat and can be used in beds, borders, and containers. The [University of Florida IFAS guide](https://ask.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/fp112) recommends freely draining soil and cautions that overwatering can cause root disease. ## Maintenance In cold-winter regions, plant outdoors after frost danger has passed. Water regularly while the plants establish, then reduce irrigation and avoid saturated soil. Modern Catharanthus hybrids generally need no pinching or deadheading. Remove damaged stems if needed and replace the planting after frost where the plants are grown as annuals.
