Create design onlineAbout Valiant™ Magenta Vinca
Valiant™ Magenta is an upright F1 vinca with large magenta flowers, identified by PanAmerican Seed as product PAS1305707. The cultivar page lists spring through autumn flowering and a mature size of 14–20 inches tall by 10–12 inches wide ([cultivar profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/063707164003083/vinca-valiant-magenta/)).
## Form and use
Use it in sunny borders, mass plantings, and containers where vivid magenta blooms can repeat through the season. The Valiant series is well-branched, low maintenance, and selected in Florida for field resistance to aerial Phytophthora; the breeder also notes tolerance to heat and drought.
## Site and water
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. [University of Florida IFAS](https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/FP112) recommends reducing irrigation after establishment because overwatering can lead to root rot. Vinca is generally grown as a warm-season annual where winters freeze.
## Maintenance
Water regularly as new plants establish, then reduce irrigation and avoid saturated soil. Remove plants after frost where they are grown as annuals; in South Florida, manage plants to prevent their escape.
