The Valiant Mixture selection of Catharanthus roseus combines the named Valiant vinca colors for a varied, upright summer display. PanAmerican Seed lists the mixture as Apricot, Burgundy, Lilac, Punch, and Pure White; Magenta and Orchid are separate cultivars and are not in the listed mix.
## Form and season
The [PanAmerican Seed cultivar profile](https://www.panamseed.com/products/063707164003332/vinca-valiant-mixture/) lists the Valiant series as upright, about 14–20 inches tall and 10–12 inches wide, with large flowers from spring through autumn. It was bred for strong landscape performance, low maintenance, and improved field resistance to aerial Phytophthora. The species has glossy green leaves; exact foliage tone and flower display can vary with light and growing conditions.
## Siting and use
Give it full sun and well-drained soil. The series handles hot summer conditions and is suitable for containers, borders, and mass planting. In frost-prone regions, grow it as a warm-season annual; in frost-free climates, Catharanthus roseus can persist as a tender perennial. The [UF/IFAS species profile](https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/publication/FP112/pdf) recommends reducing irrigation after establishment and avoiding overwatering, which encourages root and stem disease. In South Florida, manage plants to prevent escape.
## Maintenance
Water newly planted vinca while it establishes, then irrigate as needed during prolonged dry weather. Keep the root zone well drained and remove plants after frost where they are grown as annuals. UF/IFAS notes that all parts contain vinca alkaloids and that consuming large amounts can cause symptoms, so keep it out of edible plantings and discourage ingestion.
