Miles High (*Cedrus deodara* 'Miles High') is a narrow, upright deodar cedar with a central leader and gracefully weeping branches. Its blue-green needles give this columnar tree a strong vertical accent while keeping its eventual spread more compact than a typical deodar cedar.
## Appearance and growing conditions
The [Wilson Bros Gardens cultivar profile](https://www.wilsonbrosgardens.com/cedrus-deodara-miles-high-himalayan-cedar-7g.html) reports a mature size of about 20–30 ft tall and 6–10 ft wide, with a narrow weeping form and moderate growth. It describes grayish blue-green needles that mature toward medium green on older growth, zones 6a–9b, full sun, and moist but well-drained soil. Drier soil is tolerated after establishment. North Carolina State Extension’s [deodar cedar account](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/cedrus-deodara/) describes the species’ needled evergreen foliage, pyramidal young form, and pendulous branch tips.
## Maintenance
Choose a sunny site with good drainage and room for the mature tree. Prune only stray or damaged branches to preserve the weeping outline. Established trees tolerate drier soil, but avoid keeping the root zone soggy.
