Create design onlineAbout Lizzard Leaf Celosia Foliage, Sol™
Sol™ Lizzard Leaf is a foliage celosia selected for curled, bicolored leaves and compact growth. PanAmerican Seed lists the exact selection as PAS1375173 and notes that foliage can stay greener indoors and turn burgundy-red after a period outdoors in stronger light ([breeder profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/193300001044411/celosia-foliage-sol-lizzard-leaf/)).
## Form and use
This upright, low, shrub-like annual fits patio containers and the front of a sunny border. The breeder lists a height of 10–14 inches and spread of 10–16 inches. Curling is influenced by the selection and can vary with climate and indoor or outdoor conditions.
## Siting
Give the plant sun and use a potting mix or garden soil that drains well. Penn State’s 2021 sun-container trial measured 9 inches tall by 17 inches wide at its site and reported strong foliage quality through the season ([trial record](https://agsci.psu.edu/flower-trials/trial-year/2021/plant-name/celosia-foliage-sol-lizzard-leaf)).
## Maintenance
Keep the root zone evenly moist while the plant is growing, without leaving it in waterlogged soil. Grow it as a warm-season annual and protect it from cold and frost. Outdoor light can intensify the burgundy-red foliage, while indoor conditions may keep it greener.
